About
Nel Mezzo runs small immersion programs in Italy for teachers, students, and general admirers of the humanities.
Put simply, the mission of Nel Mezzo is to facilitate true and meaningful headway in each participant’s journey towards mastery of the language. We like to practice “slow travel,” that is, taking a step back from the fast-paced tourism that has overwhelmed Europe, and taking moments to marinate in a place. Through real engagement with a place’s linguistic, literary, and cultural aspects, one can experience that place’s culture more deeply.
Programs
Summer Immersion 2027
Rome · Italian Countryside · August 1–15This is our pilot program. We hope to bring together an intimate community of language learners who are dedicated to a fully immersive environment. Ideally, all participants will have some basis in the language, and will have traveled to Rome before.

- Arrive Sunday, August 1. Depart Sunday, August 15, 2027.
- Teaching
- 50+ instructional hours: classes, site visits, and activities.

- Up to 15 participants. Families are very welcome, as space allows.
